Regional Global Mental Health Workshop
On February 3, 2025, the School of Foreign Service, the School of Health, and the Global Mental Health and Well-Being Initiative at Georgetown University hosted a regional global mental health workshop. This event marked the first in-person gathering of the Global Mental Health Labs across the DMV region, bringing together faculty and researchers from Johns Hopkins University, George Washington University, the University of Maryland, and Georgetown University. Designed to deepen connections and foster a collaborative community, the workshop provided an opportunity for participants to engage in meaningful discussions, share ideas, and explore potential partnerships beyond their regular monthly meetings.
The workshop began with a series of brief "flash talks," where attendees—including faculty and graduate students—introduced themselves, shared their research, and discussed their priorities and interests in the field of global mental health. This session facilitated connections among participants with overlapping research focuses. Following the introductions, attendees broke into smaller groups for in-depth discussions about specific sectors of global mental health, allowing for more focused conversations on current projects and potential areas of collaboration. By the end of the workshop, participants had strengthened their regional network and identified new pathways for working together on shared global mental health priorities.
