Student Researcher and Fellow
Amelia Verbrugge is a Global Health major in the School of Health with a minor in Statistics. Her research interests focus on understanding the impacts of climate change on both mental health and infectious diseases, as well as the development of equitable interventions to address these challenges. She currently serves as a 2025-2026 Global Health Institute Student Fellow, assisting Dr. Wahid with various Global Mental Health and Well-Being Initiative projects, including RESTORE.
On campus, Amelia serves as a coordinator for the HOME (Homelessness Outreach | Meals | Education) program through the CSJ and volunteers weekly at Georgetown Ministry Center, a day shelter. She is the president of GlobeMed, a global health club working in partnership with a clinic in Guatemala through education, advocacy, and fundraising on campus. Additionally, she works at Georgetown’s Health Education Services as a program assistant.
