Isra Satiar
School of Health Academic Council Ambassador
Isra Satiar is a Human Science major with a deep commitment to supporting refugees and fostering a more culturally sensitive understanding of their experiences. Through both her academic pursuits and direct service work, she’s come to realize the critical importance of mental health in promoting healing and resilience within these communities. As the founder of Generation Resilient, a refugee volunteer organization working both locally and globally, Isra loves planning health education programs and brainstorming ways to engage in and create meaningful service opportunities.
On campus, Isra serves as one of the presidents of this year’s School of Health student government (Academic Council), where she enjoys leading her peers to develop events that prioritize student well-being. In addition, she works part-time at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in the Intensive Care Unit, and complements her clinical work with research in her neuropharmacology lab at the medical school. Her academic interests lie in healthy aging and Alzheimer’s, as well as the broader field of neuroscience and drug repurposing. Outside of Georgetown, Isra loves mentoring students from her high school, and teaches Quran to youth at her local mosque.
